Snoqualmie Falls The easy wonder

Why it made the list: A thundering 268-foot waterfall just off I-90, taller than Niagara, with a free viewing platform and a short trail to the base. It's the easiest big-nature hit near the city, and the historic Salish Lodge perches right at the top.
Alki Beach The city beach

Why it made the list: A long, sandy beach along West Seattle with a paved promenade, beach bars, a tiny Statue of Liberty replica and the best skyline-across-the-water view in the city. It's Seattle's easygoing, California-ish beach day.
The Washington Park Arboretum The green escape

Why it made the list: A 230-acre living collection of trees and gardens threaded with trails, including a lovely Japanese Garden and a marshy waterfront where you can paddle among the lily pads. It's a serene, free green escape minutes from downtown.
⭐ Bonus Pick: Bainbridge Island & the ferry
One more that doubles as a highlight: the ferry to Bainbridge Island is a cheap, gorgeous 35-minute ride with skyline and mountain views, landing at a walkable little town of shops, wineries and waterfront trails. Go for the ride as much as the destination.
