Why it made the list: A former warehouse district turned into the city's art-and-nightlife capital, block after block of massive murals (the Wynwood Walls are the anchor), galleries, breweries, taco spots, boutiques and rooftop bars. It's the most fun, most walkable neighborhood in Miami and the easy first one to fall for.

Why it made the list: The heart of Cuban Miami, centered on Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street), ventanitas serving café cubano, cigar rollers, live music, the old men playing at Máximo Gómez (Domino) Park, and the best Cuban food in the city. It's the most soulful, most distinctly Miami neighborhood there is.

Why it made the list: Wynwood's polished neighbor, a walkable open-air district of luxury flagships (Hermès, Dior, Cartier), bold contemporary architecture, public art and excellent restaurants. Even if you're not buying, it's a stunning stroll through design, and the ICA Miami (free) anchors the art.

Why it made the list: Miami's oldest neighborhood, and its most laid-back, a leafy, bohemian, bayfront village of tree-canopied streets, sidewalk cafés, sailboats and a genuinely relaxed pace. It's where Miamians go to exhale, with Vizcaya and the Barnacle nearby and a walkable center of shops and restaurants.

Why it made the list: The 'City Beautiful', a planned 1920s Mediterranean-revival city of grand boulevards, coral-rock architecture, banyan-lined streets and fountains, home to the Biltmore Hotel and the Venetian Pool. Its Miracle Mile is a walkable stretch of shops and restaurants, and the whole place feels like a different, older Florida.
